Hello! My name is Tina Gowin Carlucci and I am a Registered Dietitian and an ACE-Certified Personal Trainer.
I was born and raised in North Carolina (Go Tar Heels!), though I am of Indian (Asian) descent. Because of this ethnic background, I have been vegetarian for most of my life and grew up on homemade Indian food. Throughout high school and college, I enjoyed learning about other cultures and trying different cuisines. After living in New York for a few years, I introduced seafood into my diet and have been able to expand my culinary horizons even further.
I’ve been involved in various sports my entire life – everything from basketball, to soccer, to tae kwon do. Most recently, I identify myself as a runner (and a one-time-so-far triathlete). Running has led me to some amazing people and it is a passion that continues to grow. So far, I have run countless half-marathons, 3 marathons (Chicago 2010, New York 2011, Philadelphia 2012), a 50k (Bear Mountain 2013), and an ultra-style relay (Ragnar Las Vegas 2013). And with a new interest in strength training, I even finished a Tough Mudder in 2012. When it comes to sports, I’ll try (almost) anything once – it’s so amazing what you can train your body to do and the obstacles that you can overcome. I love talking to others about similar passions and helping them to discover how physical activity and healthy eating can lead to a more fulfilling life.
Recently, I joined a new “club” called motherhood! My hubby and I welcomed our beautiful baby boy in November 2014. After experiencing the ups and downs of pregnancy and new parenthood, I have a newfound respect for what the body is capable of accomplishing and a growing passion for helping families get healthy and stay healthy together.
